Michael Barraclough says: Ken Sheffield has condensed the original triple minor dance into a duple minor dance by using the 'next 2nd couple' as a '3rd couple'. There are significant changes to the figures including use of a double figure of eight (both couples active, not known then). It is worth noting that while the term 'double figure' is used in the original text, the rest of the instruction suggests that only one couple is active. The term 'double figure' almost certainly means a half figure of eight twice (ie a whole figure of eight in earlier terminology) because the term 'go the figure', by now, almost always meant half figure of eight (there would only be 4 bars of music available) and not a whole figure of eight.
